Render to the Animation code and then render the clip in FCP. Unfortunately you cannot render directly to the HDV codec out of AE and have FCP play it.

If you’re set to capture 29.97 DV, then it will capture DF.

Not necessarily. I capture NDF DV all the time.

You can launch Quicktime Player in Rosetta mode and get access to the Avid codec.

    See here for info

I just spent the better part of a day splitting (by hand) a dozen timeline reference clips apart into individual shots and I it was cuts only interview footage. I would of just been able to import and get to work on efx’s and adjustments had I popped for Automactic Duck.

Thanks for the post, TonyTony, you’re absolutely right about the time savings Pro Import AE gives. One of the things people love about the product is how much time it saves. Yours is a good illustration of how the plug-in pays for itself often in just one use.

I met a user recently who told me something like “You have no idea how much time your product has saved us. You have literally saved us weeks.” So for many users, it is actually more expensive to not buy the plug-in.

Good advice, but Motion and Shake are not complete replacements for After Effects.

If you want your FCP clips to be separate layers in After Effects– sounds like it since you’re adding effects and color correcting– consider Automatic Duck’s Pro Import AE plug-in for translating the FCP timeline to After Effects. https://www.automaticduck.com/piae/

The plug-in will save you loads of time and hassle.

    Read this article… https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304477

To remove a codec you remove it from “/Library/QuickTime”

It is no longer distributed. As far as I know, it wouldn’t work in FCP 5.1 or later anyway.

Automatic Duck’s Pro Export FCP exports AAF from FCP.
