I did my first shoot with the carmera mounted via a suction cup mount. Worked ok, I’m now researching which tool in post will make it smoother. Here’s a section of one of the shots.
I also got a Steadicam Merlin to play with, and I’m wondering if it couldn’t be mounted to something on suction cups. I’m curious if that will work. Will experiment.

I’m going to give the suction cup a go and see how it does.
One road I have planned to shoot is a three hour drive away and I can’t remember its exact condition. I suppose when the suction cut arrives I’ll just take a day and try it on the stretch I need to shoot and if the road turns out to be too bumpy I’ll investigate other options.

OK, so what is the proper or near proper gear to look for? Please note that my post was not “how can I get the Steadicam look for free?” I am looking for suggestions on what tools I should be looking at.

You could spend $700, but since SRP is only $495 I’m nor sure why you would.

Thank you again for the suggestion, and I know that I don’t know enough to question your advice, but I now have the 1520 and it seems to me that the case isn’t tall enough to hold this camera.
Camera sideways:

Am I just looking at it wrong?

The comp was 6720×784 and you changed the comp size to 1344×784? Then that smaller size is what is being rendered.
If you nested the 6720×784 comp into a 1344×784 comp, then depending on how you were working the larger size may get rendered for some things.
Then again, it is possible you have off-screen elements that are still getting rendered, so you may want to turn off layers that aren’t visible.

However, I am using FCP 6.0.3. And according the Automatic Duck website, the plug-in doesn’t work with version 6.
I’m sorry I’m late to this party, and I’m sorry you were confused by information on our site. Pro Export FCP definitely works with Final Cut Pro 6.0.
