If you’re working on an Intel Mac you’re out of luck–the Universal Binary Avid codec hasn’t been released, and the older Avid codecs don’t work on the new Intel Macs. I suggest rendering your Avid files out in the Animation codec. It should work.

Thanks for confirming this sad situation. Unfortunately the animation codec makes gigantic files and they take forever to import into the Avid. Sigh. Oh well, hopefully it will be corrected soon. At least I know I’m not crazy on top of everything else.

Word on the street is that the Mactel version of Avid will be finished/released end of Q1, which is coming up. Cross your fingers and hope Avid makes their deadline.

    Mike.

You can launch Quicktime Player in Rosetta mode and get access to the Avid codec.

    See here for info

    Hi,

Digital Anarchy (digitalanarchy.com) makes a lossless codec called microcosm codec that is suposedly much (3x?) smaller than Animation and is lossless.

I can’t vouch for this but there you have it.
