You can use Pro Import FCP and import an AAF from the Avid that references the MXF media. Of course it is totally not recommended due to the possibility of trouble with Avid Codec/FCP conflicts, non-real-time playback, etc. But lots of people do it.
Just know that Avid HDV-native MXF files are not supported.

Since you’re running the same version of FCP on both computers don’t bother with XML, instead just send FCP project files with the clips you need.

It isn’t an issue for me, they pretty much just instantly open up.
When I create DMGs I choose “Read Only” from the popup menu.

I’ve taken to the habit of copying my install discs to our server as DMG files. Then when I need to do an install I mount ALL the disc images at once and run the install. Not one request for discs to change.

When you say “in animation” I assume that means you rendered to the Animation codec.
How about rendering from AE to the codec of your FCP sequence? DV, for example, if you have a DV setup.
