    Hello All

Does anyone nkow if it is possible to send an Avid sequence to Final Cut Pro so that the FCP user can relink to the original Avid media (so as not to have to redigitize?).
This is a VFX heavy project, the offline is being cut on Avid and the VFX company has an FCP pipeline in place. We’d like to be able to send the VFX sequences and drive with the relevant media to the company. We are working on a 24p project and are using the MXF format.
I am aware of Automatic Duck, but don’t know if it can relink to media unless using the OMF 2.0 format.

    Thanks

No. Avid uses it proprietary media wrapper (either OMF or MXF) and FCP won’t recognize them. FCP uses Quicktime only.

You can use Pro Import FCP and import an AAF from the Avid that references the MXF media. Of course it is totally not recommended due to the possibility of trouble with Avid Codec/FCP conflicts, non-real-time playback, etc. But lots of people do it.

Just know that Avid HDV-native MXF files are not supported.
