I have been fighting this issue my self for the past couple days and have found that if you make a duplicate the clip ontop of its self, change the composite mode to “add” and then apply the gamma filter to the top clip, and adjust to my liking. Its the best solution I have found so far, much less noise then the 3way filter and I have been able to pull out some details out of the dark.
Hope this helps

I have seen that error, when I have the limit capture now button checked in the system prefs, but that is the only time I have seen it with ample disc space.

I have a similar thing happen when a external harddrive is spinning up, the hard drive contains no media or render files, yet when it spins up it stalls FCP for a few seconds. This may be completely unrelated, but I thought it might provide a little insight

Well, maybe my copy of FC 6.0.3 is not functioning properly then. Do you know if there is a preference I can set somewhere to have the extensions be in place?

It was a 101 minute video, I was not segmenting it, I am not familiar how to do that. I got up this morning and it was no longer in the batch monitor window, it seems to have disappeared it isn’t in the active, completed or all sections, but the encoded file is in the directory where I had saved it. Hmmm…
The thing I didn’t understand about it saying “waiting” is that it was the only project in the que. Maybe its just a small issue with compressor calculating how many frames it has to render and when the video extends beyond a certain point it just lets the compressor keep running but doesn’t track it anymore. Thats just my theory, I would have to repeat this to find out more… which I don’t have time for right now.
Two more questions:
What way can I check and see if the video encoded properly?
Do you normally export as QT movie before using compressor to transcode to mpeg2? -
You can choose where your menu bar goes.
If you go into your display preferences, turn mirroring off and then in the arrangement area click and drag the menu bar from the MBP screen to the 24″ display. I have been doing this for several months and works great.

You can access and edit templates directly from motion in Final Cut Pro.
You need to have a 1.25ghz or faster G4 and update your OS to 10.4.9 or higher

4 or 4.5 When they introduced 4.5 they opened up HD editing. 5 was the first time they offered multi-cam editing and 6 they integrated motion throughly, and along cam the smoothcam plug-in for FCP. IMO If you have been getting along fine without these features until now it seems unnecessary to me to update. If you decide be sure to check that your laptop can handle the new versions before you purchase one.

Check what your playback frame rate is in the “RT” menu. if it is set to anything except FULL it will not playback all of your frames. I have seen this several times with wedding videos that I have been editing. I have been able to remove the flash with the “drop-out eliminator” from the “CHV repair collection” This seemed to solve my issue, but the flashes lasted only one frame not several. Good luck flashes aren’t easy to totally get rid of.
