  • Really Strange Capturing Problem…

So I’m trying to capture some footage today and ran into a really bizarre problem…the capture ends at 9 minutes, 25 seconds and 15 frames and tells me that I don’t have enough harddrive space left (which is nonsense cause I have over 100gigs available and am only trying to capture 50 minutes of normal DV footage).

I’ve tried a few different tapes and still exact same problem pops up at the exact same point.

I don’t have any limits set for capturing in the settings.

I’m using Final Cut 6.0.04…the newest version.

Ok a wild guess, but have you got your scratch disk formatted for Windows?

Nope…not formatted for windows…I’ve been using this drive for nearly a year now for editing and have never had a problem…this is new.

    I don’t know, I haven’t tried that.

Does this sound like the problem folks had with Quciktime 7.2 (I think) where Apple had implemented
the copy protection function that stopped users from making any Quicktime files that were 10 minutes or longer?

I have seen that error, when I have the limit capture now button checked in the system prefs, but that is the only time I have seen it with ample disc space.

Yeah, I don’t have that button checked so I have no idea what’s going on…I mean, I’ve been using Final Cut for YEARS and this just suddenly came out of left-field, so to speak, today.

Do you perhaps have time code breaks with different hour numbers that can trick the system into thinking you’re asking for several hours of recording?
