Thanks – appreciate it. The AVID LVD dock is the end of line – actually the only idem on the chain – with built in termination. Tried different cables.. on an old 9 gig drive cables work fine.

Actually I can get a VERY old 9 gig AVID drive to work. At one point the LVD dock was actually seen by the drive utility. Formatted them, twice, then tried to make a RAID. Crashed the drive utility and now can’t get the G5 started if the LVD is turned on.

What a waste of equipment… but I guess anything to make the company more money.

    Thanks.

Thanks guys. I can get a single SCSI drive to work but not the AVID Raid…. bumbed out. Now that I’m retired only do work for non-profits I don’t the 3-4k to buy new raids… My goal had been to upgade the drives in the AVID LVD dock… but alas.

Appreacite all your ideas and work trying to get the correct driver.

I believe it is the controller card – shows up under the About this Mac. But can’t find any drivers to support OS X. It is an Adaptec card model ADPT. 39160.

What ATTO card might you suggest. Hate to thow away a heft hardy RAID system. Hoping to put in 200 or more gig drives in each bay if I can get it running.

By the way they don’t show up at all in Disk Utility to be able to reformat.

    Thanks

Thanks Jerry for the quick reply.

This raid was formatted for MAC 9 in to two banks. Had been working perfectly on my G4. I’ve now gone to FCP5 fulltime and would love to have the dual SCSI performance.

    Thanks

I was running into similar problems. The only way I could get it to work, and it seems faster, was to output a full size QuickTime file for the piece(s) then drag them into Compressor. Works perfectly. Just did 6 pieces alll at once with two different file sizes of each. Perfect. Had tried outputting to Compressor directly… as I said CRASH.

I now do all my pieces this way.

Thank you – HOW DUMB of me. I have a second monitor over my 30 inch that has a foot hanging down. It hides that value – never saw it. I looked everywhere. Had to move the canvas to see it.

Appreciate your getting right back to me.

Found the problem: You have to set the preset BEFORE you do the import. Then it will take on whatever the preset is that you enter. Little strange to me but – just a quirk.
