    1. I am trying to install my 8 bay LVD dual SCSI system on a Mac G5. With the LVD turned off the G5 starts perfectly. Starting with the LVD system turned on – I get an immediate crash telling me to restart.

Any ideas on how to get the drives up and running so I can see them on my system.

    2. I have 80 gig drives in the bays. Without paying AVIDs prices, can I replace the drives with other larger SCSI drives?

    Really appreacite the help.

G5, 2.5g AVID SCSI controller. NOT running the AVID on this machine. Just want to use the drives.

Can you plug any SCSI device and start your G5? I suspect you won’t be able to use those drives – I ran into the same issue when I moved to OSX on a G4. Essentially, all my SCSI device stopped working.

Actually I can get a VERY old 9 gig AVID drive to work. At one point the LVD dock was actually seen by the drive utility. Formatted them, twice, then tried to make a RAID. Crashed the drive utility and now can’t get the G5 started if the LVD is turned on.

What a waste of equipment… but I guess anything to make the company more money.

    Thanks.
