preset time

This is a pretty elemental question, one that’s answered at the very beginning of the MANUAL. Set still duration in preferences. Look around for it, as you’ll learn a few other things you really need to know.

tried that it didn’t work… still sets the in and length to 10 seconds.

Tried what, exactly?

I’ve been changing the import duration of stills all day. It certainly does work.

In the User Preferences, click on the Editing tab. The first box is “Still/Freeze Duration”. Change that to 5:00, and you should be good to go.

Is this what you’ve tried?

Found the problem: You have to set the preset BEFORE you do the import. Then it will take on whatever the preset is that you enter. Little strange to me but – just a quirk.
