I second Ryan. Check them out. The SWIT S-1071F is great because it offers all the features, plus built in cross conversion from HDMI to SDI.

Hey Richard,
10Gig E has been great here. Very fast. I’m using Mac Pros so no iMacs yet. I have still been using FCP 7 as I investigate Premiere CS6. I also have a Avid Symphony in the mix and that works great too. I’ve imported a view projects cut in FCP7 to Premiere CS6. I haven’t seen the Dual screen issue Walter mentioned, but then again, I don’t use Premiere as much as Walter does.

Hey Walter,
I’m using 10GBit ethernet for shared storage with MacPros and Atto’s 10GBit cards, courtesy of Mr. Zelin. How are you adding iMacs? Are they just Gbit ethernet?

I think what you are seeing is called Judder. It happens because 24 frames is 4 frames faster than “persistence of vision.” When you pan and there are objects close to the lens, you will notice the judder becoming more pronounced. It happens when you shoot 35mm film as well. This is why on a movie shoot you will often see someone wipe past the camera in the opposite direction, during a pan to hide the judder, i.e.. a waiter moves across frame in the opposite direction of the pan.

This is supposed to be this way so you can record a clean signal out the HDMI to an external recorder. If the info were on the screen, it would be recorded. All the info about shutter, f-stop ISO etc is still visible on the built in monitor on the back of the camera.
If the Marshall has DSLR zoom it will blow up the image when not in Mirror mode. Not all monitors have this. I just tested SWIT’s new monitor, (look for the review soon), It supports DSLR zoom for Canon.
