The C100 will feel more familiar if you are used to shooting with cinema or video cameras– built in eye piece, ergonomics, etc.
The 5D gives you that big sensor and dramatic filmic look, but you need to get more accessories to make it really shootable for moving images.
That being said, try them both. Bring a CF card to a camera store and demo them. Look at the results and decide.

Sounds like the same problem Canon did with the 5D Mark iii firmware 1.2.1 when you use a third party battery. It will still work. It just doesn’t talk to the firmware on the battery properly.

ProRes 422 is fine. Try 5D to RGB — free in the App store or you can by the Batch version to batch all files at once for a nominal fee. It’s worth every dime. FCP 7 does a lousy job converting to ProRes 422 with Canon’s Plugin.

It must be a bad run. I’ve never seen this on my Mark iii. Strange. Is it happening at a high ISO? What are your settings. I shoot 1920×1080 @ 23.976fps with a shutter speed of 1/50. ISO in 160 multiples (160, 320, 640, 1250). The 1250 because there is no 1280.

FCP 7.0.3 works perfectly fine with no difference in speed or slow down on a 15″ MacBook Pro Quad 2.4 and a 2008 8-Core 2.8 Mac Pro both running 10.8.4. The Mac Pro has a Kona 3 and it still works fine.

I guess we differ. I find more and more, story development getting worse. Story is king. You are talking about the technical side and I agree that is getting better. But… if the story sucks who cares how good the FX or cinematography is.

Yes, the quality is good. FX are better. BUT the stories and screenplays are worse. This is a real problem. Have you ever dealt with a 26 year old studio exec? It isn’t pleasant when they have no cultural or filmic reference other than the films of the last 5 years.

Also Kona 3 is supported with this update. Yeah. Need to get a Kona 3G though eventually.
