When the animation Starts, it seems that some Stokes or light streaks have been used here.
You can create them using mask tool on white solid.
Animate there position from left to right and use them as Alpha or Luma matte.
You have to play around with the Opacity of matte and Text.
Also, I think Venetian Blinds Transition is used to revealing the Text.

Instead of a circle you can use our own required shape and also can animate it by using a mask on it.

For showing the wipe effect you have to use a mask and then animate it.

If you don’t have a clean plate then you can create one using Stamp Tool.

Rotobrush is good in isolating a subject as Ted has suggested. Just a little bit of tweaking will give you fast and accurate result.

You have to do color correction so that both footage will look similar.
An easy way is to Precompose both footage, align then on viewer side by side. Now lock one composition and work on another by applying Levels, Curves, Hue and Saturation or using some 3rd party plugin like Red giant Colorista or color finesse.
