Why 3D Camera Tracker is not usable here? I have seen some tutorials and there is an option for 3d Camera and Text in it which may help Stuart what he wants to achieve.

In Mocha, if you go to Track panel(below your Viewer) , you will notice that there are option for Transform,Rotation, Scale, Shear and Perspective.
Click on the Export Tracking Data button and copy the data from clip board. Then just paste it to a solid or a null object in AE by pressing ” Cntl/Cmnd + V ”

If you have AE CS6, you can try the new inbuilt 3D Camera Tracker. It gives pretty good results.

May be the problem is due to following reasons:
1. You are viewing at odd zoom ratio. Press ” / ” and your will see the exact 100% size.
2. Anti Aliasing is off. Select your Text Layer and Press ” Cntl/Cmnd + U ” to change its quality to Best.Vishesh Arora

Increasing the Value of Ramp Scatter up to 20 will reduce banding but add some noise on it. You can then apply remove Grain to reduce the noise.

For the second image, You can create the circles with no gaps in between if you decrease the Expansion value in “Wave Motion” menu.
