You can use a Random Expression with a Slider Control attach to it.

those PNG images are covered with transparent areas, like a PNG file below.The PNG that you have uploaded does not contain the Alpha Channel.
I would suggest you to import the PNG sequence in AE , put that sequence in 500 x 500 comp and Pre-Render it and then Work on the effects part.

I would suggest you to use Mocha AE which comes with AE CS5 and above.
It is a much powerful than AE inbuilt tracker.

You can use the Obscuration Layers feature in Particular. This will allow the particles to appear behind the logo even if the particular layer is above the logo layer.

The best way seems to be to use “J” and “K” keys as Stefan has suggested.
But this will work with Layer Markers only. To add Layer Markers select the layer in Timeline, then go to Layer>Add marker or use the asterisk key on the keypad.

I am working in Cinema 4D Broadcast, After Effects and Premier.
For After Effects I would suggest you to go for more RAM.
For making quick 3D shapes and 3D Texts directly in AE(This would be very helpful in short deadlines as you don’t have to render from a 3D appliation), you could use AE CS6 new Ray-Tracing Feature which would require a good GPU. NVIDIA Quadro 4000 would be a good graphic card but not the best one.

In a nutshell, Go for more RAM to increase the overall performance.
For Premiere and Cinema 4D, You would get a better option in their respective Forums.

Just drag them off the comp entirely when you’re done with them.
Another easy and quick way to get rid off the Markers is Hold CMND/CNTRL and then Click on the Markers.

Scale will create problem when the change in value is huge.
He seems to be slow at the start and suddenly go very quick.
If you want linear animation, Select the keyframes in Time-Line, Right Click>Keyframe Interpolation and then choose Linear for both Temporal and Spatial Interpolation.
