I can see the arc created by the masks. Don’t know what exactly created this issue. May be the initial position of mask has slipped a little by mistake. Try creating the same Masks again and check the results. Though glad that you solved the problem.

As Stephen said Luma key is good to key out white from the Footage but rarely gives fine results.
If you can upload a screenshot of your footage, I can create an example Project to show how you can use different keying effects to key any color.

Creative people are not machines and art is not a science.I concur with you on this point. I am working as a Senior Motion Graphic Artist right now. In my previous company my boss gave me a task of designing and animating 20 films just in time span of ONE week.
This is INSANE. How could you expect someone to work continuously in this way without taking proper rest and sleep.
People who are from Management department(and don’t have any knowledge about the procedures of animation) think that we have a Magic Wand that will create everything that we have in our mind directly into the software. Its a shame that Artists are not considered as Humans but Robots.
This is a BEAUTIFUL field with some STUPID people on top.

But now I see the backlayer through the frontlayer.What do you mean by this? A screenshot of composition panel and Timeline depicting the problem would help.

Press ” Cntl/Cmnd + K “ to open composition settings. Go to Advance Panel, Click on Options.. Button and Increase the Shadow Map Resolution.
