Soundbooth also has an effect that let’s you capture noise within a silent segment, and apply reduction based on that capture. Just select an area of silence and “capture noise print”, then reduce noise. It can be very effective, although Adobe Audition has many other settings to play with in that same area.

If you have a dual output DVI/VGA card, you can set a display as extended and choose it from Premiere’s playback settings for full screen preview. Otherwise, you’d have to add a second card.
The next step in price would be from Black magic, I would recommend their Decklink studio cards which will give you any output you can think of. That will give you a true output for color correction, pixel to pixel monitoring, noise, and audio sync. You’ll also get a ton of output and capture options.
Finally, if all you need is SD output, you can purchase a D/A firewire box and monitor on an analog display.

Hi Drew,
Mpeg4 can be wrapped in AVI, although not common. The first thing I would try is renaming it to mp4. There are a lot of converters out there. You could try the trial version of Tmpeg, that will spit out an uncompressed file you choose to.
Your other issue is probably the 15 fps frame rate.

Yes, the work area bar is above the timeline. You can drag it or Use “Alt+[” and “Alt+]” to set in and out work area points to your CTI.

Yes, it was the DV Series, although I think there were other runs affected. If you do a search for HP and Nvidia, you’ll get an eye full. What left a bad taste was their unwillingness to even deal with it, but I’m over it 🙂

Funny you posted on this, I just ran into it a minute ago! And it’s a bug as far as I can tell. My situation and how I solved it.
In Premiere we have:
Top layer, overlayed graphic.
Middle layer, video footage scaled down.
Bottom layer, background and surrounding interactive frame.
Everything appeared white, until I deleted a hidden video layer in After Effect we were using for placement.
My advice would be to delete any hidden layer in that composition, especially video.

Just a word of advice (and not to pick on HP), but they’ve had a bad track record with Nvidia cards overheating and dying, apparently from melting solder. I’ve personally seen 3 laptops go down that route, all in the $3000.00 range.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, get that extended warranty…

That’s a long shot… and could be very time consuming.
I would import both the old audio and video, then inside the timeline, Alt-click on each audio and video clip and use “Replace with clip” from the project panel. The problem, I’m guessing, is that the length on the merged clip doesn’t match the originals.
