Hi David,

Any effects applied to the footage? Have you recently installed plugins?

This often occurs when effects are missing or corrupted.

Well, after a few hours of playing around, I traced the problem to BMDImport.prm Located at: C:Program FilesAdobeCommonPlug-insCS5MediaCore

With the file out and a Premiere restart, the problem goes away. Not the best fix, but it allows me to edit…

Again, any solution to this, and info about the exact function of that plugin would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Joseph,

I would also look at your drive setup. Premiere deals with footage differently than FCP does. In fact, FCP mostly deals with Prores vs native footage in Pr. A good RAID setup is the norm to get fluid HD work done in Premiere.

For single machines, we use Caldigit HDelements in RAID 5 and playback is instant and realtime, even with uncompressed HD on either Mac or PC.

1280×1080 and 960×70 are correct for DVCPro HD as 1080P and 720P respectively.

You can create a custom HDV preset by going to the general tab and creating a 1440×1080 PAR 1.33 preset and choosing the appropriate frame rate, then saving it. Not sure why it’s gone, but saving it as a new HDV preset will work just as well.

Hi Mark,

You should install CS5 first. Part of the card’s software, like presets, are installed within Adobe folders which wouldn’t be there otherwise.

And QuickTime reference is not a feature supported by Premiere.

Yes, Dynamic Link” only works within a suite. It will not work between applications that were installed separately.

The camcorder outputs h.264. I would help if you could post a sample. It could be that you used a wrong sequence / export setting, or that CS3 wasn’t compatible with the format.

What were the format / frame rates used for recording? Was it progressive?
