Actually, there is no direct shortcut that I know of. You create a shortcut to playback settings but you’ll still have to check off external monitor.
Or you could get a cheap HDMI switcher if you are monitoring through DVI/HDMI.

Actually, you would have to build in After Effects, which I would highly recommend for anything more than editing. It’s just so much easier to animate layers.

Premiere can export Prores when FCP is installed.

I think there definitely is some truth there, although I have to say that working with both (on a hardware level), I still find the Mac more reliable, and their support is still unbeatable.

We went from PC to Mac, although we still have a PC suite.
It sounds like you haven’t decided yet, and I would point out a couple of things.
The problem with a PC only workstation are people dropping Mac drives to you (Yes, there is Macdrive and another app from Paragon Soft, but it’s really not without issues).
The other is the fact that you now have to live without FCP, and we have tons of clients still asking for Prores exports. And of course, Win 7 works beautifully on Mac Pros.
That’s unless you are keeping the Mac Pro, in which case, forget everything I have said, Win 7 is still the king in my mind 🙂

You could try importing your current project in a new project, and /or clearing you media cache files.
Or maybe you just hit a nasty bug.

Premiere will edit HDV natively. How well really depends on your system specs, and what better way to find out than to try it 🙂
If you have a newer Mac Pro, or an i7 PC/notebook with at least 6 gigs of RAM, you should be fine.

Hi Tim,
MXF has a complex structure with separate audio,video and metadata folders. When you are renaming in FCP, you are renaming an intermediate file, not the native footage.

Unfortunately, these are Quicktime wrapped files that are not supported in Premiere, they are FCP specific.
You should export as QT animation, or PNG instead for a lossless transition.

Sorry to say that the icon didn’t help, maybe someone else can chime in.
Try changing the default player to Adobe player in your preferences and see if you are getting playback out of your onboard audio output. That would confirm an AJA audio routing issue.
