Unfortunately, Premiere for the Mac is so new that we really haven’t seen any feedback from users in here. You may want to post on the Adobe Premiere Mac Forum on the Adobe site as well.

Make sure you are using the latest Tricaster Codec, since CS3 is so new. Another good way to do it would be converting to DV first. Does your unit have a DV out ?

That would allow you to work in Premiere without having to render. Of course, there may be a slight loss of quality if color correction and effects are added, since it will be compressed to DV twice, but then you are going from 4:2:2 to 4:1:1 anyway…

Sometimes you just have to move on 🙂

P 6.5 is much less reliable (and workable)than PP2, and that reliability may just get worse when using newer effects in the old interface.

They are added to all applications by taking them to Windows>Fonts, or right click, install in Vista.

Premiere doesn’t support all font types.

Premiere CS3 can only import and export to CMX3600.

September 16, 2007 at 3:50 pm in reply to: How do I convert wide screen footage to the 4:3

Sure, you will find the “scale” slider under Effects Control > Motion. Make sure you start with a standard DV project. Playing with the scale slider, you just want to fill the frame.

By the way, I meant “zooming in”. There will be a slight loss in quality; no way around it.

Again, I would try to convince them to stick with 16:9, they’ll regret the 4:3 decision as soon as they get that widescreen 😉

Hmmm, you must have gotten a special version of the camera, or have a very bad monitor 😉

What level were you getting on average? Were the blacks crushed ?

Anything under 30 IREs with Mid gain gets really grainy for us…

I have a feeling it’s interpreted as square too. Right click on the footage > Interpret Footage.
