Using another codec for editing
I have just upgraded to CS3. I am also running a Newtek Tricaster for field productions. It records in a proprietary Newtek DV25 codec. I have installed their codec on my CS3 system which allows me to edit. The problem is that everything on the timeline needs to be rendered for output to DV tape. The rendered video has a weird strobe like effect, almost like a field dominance issue, but I have checked that already. I have tried the Newtek forum, but with no response to date. I can export out of the Tricaster to the MS DV codec, which works in CS3, but I would like to figure out why it renders the Newtek files like that. Thank you in advance to any assistance.

Make sure you are using the latest Tricaster Codec, since CS3 is so new. Another good way to do it would be converting to DV first. Does your unit have a DV out ?
That would allow you to work in Premiere without having to render. Of course, there may be a slight loss of quality if color correction and effects are added, since it will be compressed to DV twice, but then you are going from 4:2:2 to 4:1:1 anyway…

What project settings are you using? Are you using standard DV presets? If so, I would recommend creating a custom preset that utilizes the TriCaster codec.
