  • Hi John,

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes im using the cineform codec that comes with Vegas 7.

But the Cineform 5.1 that you mention is a codec only which works like a plugin or is it a seperate program that does the conversion ?

If its the former buyng the new one will work with Vegas 7 or above ?

    Thanks
    Viki

    Eric,

Im surprised that you said you know about SEVERAL such presentation softwares. However you have not named even one. Also you told me to render to several alternate formats all of which dont even exist in vegas. Were you serious about those comments ?

    Hi Eric,

No the software im using is called DCon.

You actually mean all softwares will do what i want ? Hardly i think. You mean they all can hold a black screen on the second monitor/lcd always (Continuously from the moment they are started up) and show all the play controls exclusively on the 1st monitor. Strangely im yet to seen one software like that, except for some pretty obscure ones. Can you name the ones you think will work ? I believe the software im using was developed with a guy who programs in C++ so it was more like custom designed because they could hardly find 1 software that does what im reffering to.

Also there is no H.264 rendering in Vegas i think ? Where is that render profile ? And the same for Divx Avi. Can you guide me under which section ? Except for Divx which also will not render HD if im right.

    Regards

The system is a dual core 3 ghz system, 4 gb ram, nvidia 7300GS video card (which ironically has PUREVIDEO HD hardware mpeg2 decoding), The video runs from an INDEPENDENT SATA 7200rpm drive 🙂 and was benchmarked (Via HD Tune) on the same system as having 90Mbps average transfer rate. Completely defragged etc etc etc. Each and every element that could optimize disk speed was taken care of. All throughput factors have been taken into consideration. Im very sure this is not a disk bottle neck issue.

It would be worthwhile to note that the same system plays YUV and UNCOMPRESSED 720p. Im sure your aware what kind of transfer rate that is :).

This something to do with decoding the mpeg 2 im sure. It stutters in windows media player itself. Are you aware of any mpeg2 hd codecs which might do the trick ? Divx in an avi wrapper wont have the quality of Mpeg2 HD right ?

On a side note what presentation softwares can you suggest which can playback HD video to a 2nd monitor from the pc but will hold a black screen displaying only the video and nothing else. No mouse no desktop nothing should be visible on the 2nd monitor. All playback controls and player etc are shown only on the 1st monitor.

    Dear Eric,

I checked the system and task manager shows just 10-20% cpu usage while playing the files. Also unfortunately the software im using to playback the files only accepts avi or mpeg. Thats the reason im trying to render to mpg since it offers sharper output than .avi i think, but correct me if im wrong. I wouldnt mind an avi alternate. The reason i have only playback with this presentation software is because it handles the video along with controlling motion automated equipments that are part of the show. And it does everything in programmed sync so i have no other option to playback.

This file’s bitrate is 30Mbps and runs smoothly on the other system which has the same specs SATA HDD as the problem system in question. I have a seperate media player which runs this same mpeg from an even low spec IDE drive. So i doubt its a throughput problem.

Any other suggestions of what i can try ?

    Thanks

  • Thanks Edward !

Steve, you mean we have to do this everytime. Dosent Vegas remember the last choice used ? Or are there at least any settings in the preferences panel where we can choose not to save project marker files ?

Whats Decent ???/ LOL. Oh gosh. Funny. This forum (as opposed to the other ones on this site has some attitude huh) i guess has real experienced people who are so high in the clouds thats is so difficult to get an answer from them on a free, hangout forum. Thats when George Lucas has given them the day off i guess.

Hey come on guys be a little kind here. I would just like in few words what you might decribe film look as to a novice. Im a novice in this. So help out plz. You have the camera and would be in a much better position of giving me a hands down on the quality. And really want to know if i can project what im shooting live on the giant screen. I cover a variety of shows including a lot of magic performers live on stage so id have to show the audience the small close up trick that hes performing on giantscreen thru LCD projection. So we will have the moon spot on him and we will have to get a tight shot of the hands etc. Will this camera be good for these kind of settings. Because if it involves a lot of setup for every small lighting change (like from moonspot on hands seq to a large illusion performance with all the stage lights and par cans on) and we cant keep changing between the show. Will this camera suit this scenario ?? Thanks.

But lets say we have a live show. Its a acrobat performance. Does using a soundtrack as background on a video projection which will be part of the show considered a Copyright violation ??
