Hi im new to this section of the cow forums mainly because i intend to buy a DVX-102 B. But based on my editing experience i can say the kinda of ultra clear slow motion in the likes of the matrix can be done with high speed filming. The frame rates use during filming are very high. But in average video when you slow it down thru your NLE there will be a certain amount of smudging. Ive heard of a tool within adobe premiere pro which can interpolate what the inbetween frames should look like. I think vaguely remembering. We will have to setthe project to a high frame rate. Then load the video onto the time line. Then slow down the video using whatever tools provided. I believe this way the NLE creates interpolated frames due to the project frame rate. And when you slow this down you get a much sharper slow mo. By the way there is one DV camera that has a native slow motion mode the sony consumer end HD Cam HC-3. That has a mode to use a dv frame rate adjustment trick to capure in a mode which allows every 3 secs of shoot material to play as 12 secs in almost normal speed clarity. I guess you could further slow this down within your NLE and get some very good ultra slo-mo. Meanshile you guys who own this dvx-100 camera please reply to my new post on the film look mode. Thanks.

Dear Jedi,
I tried values lower than 230. Still Reds alone have jagged edges. If i just switch text color to white, it is proper. But back to red and even under 230, same jagged bleeding edges. ???. I tried the largest size for my requirement. Point size 42. Thats quite large. Theres no zooming in. I just have the text scrolling from top edge to the bottom of the screen. Like floaters. But the reds are bad. How would such a professional software have such a flaw ? I rendered full red in 3ds max. Same text comes out razor sharp.

No, but there will be changes. Thats why im editing it. LOL. So when i edit and apply transitions etc to this DV-AVI the best way to maintain (not improve, i know thats not possible) quality would be to render to AVI Uncompressed or DV-AVI. The question here is not about improving the quality but rather making sure theres no loss on the original quality.

Does the sony dvx-100 series do this over cranking ?

I assume you meant after reading about the file size. Rather go with rendering to DV-AVI.
Yes i start out with DV-AVI. You are absolutely right that rendering to Uncompressed AVI wont improve clarity. But wont rendering to DV-AVI apply the DV compression once more over the final output. Or is it that if we capture, edit and render to DV-AVI theres absolutely no resolution loss ??

But will JPG or PNG seq be inferior in quality to TGA ?
Why does everyone opt for a TGA seq ? It doesnt pixelate or any other advantages ?
If you feel quality will be ok in JPG or PNG seq then can i do this in VMS platinum. It needs a script ? I dont know scripting at all ? What should i do ?
Basically this is for an advt to be screened in a cinema theatre. That theatre has a DLP projection system and projects the AD Film from a server (NO FILM). I thought doing the film this way saves cost and quality loss which might come though Telecine etc.
As a final point i also had a workaround idea that might be ok. But correct me if im wrong please. Original footage is DV. So if i import the DV AVI,, Edit,,, then rendered to AVI uncompressed (since ive heard that will not squeeze the quality at all). Then give the theatre the Uncompressed AVI (so far no quality loss i assume) and they can render out to TGA on their system and use it for screening. This way i dont have to worry about sound sync also. Am i Right or All wrong ?
Thanks for all your help Jedi.

Hi Jedi,
When you say only certain areas get blurred does Vegas give that facility to apply any sort of effect to a predfined area only ? I know that moving mates are possible. But they work more as opacity masks. Is there a mask for effects. Like lets say your choosing lightrays effect. You might want to limit the light rays effect to an area of the video only (as if the light was coming out of a window in a house or something to that effect.

June 27, 2006 at 7:22 pm in reply to: No Dolby 2 Channel sound in Vegas 6 + DVD Platinum ??nothing much actually. I just want to make dvds which bear actual dolby 2 channel. If i understood right what your saying is that i wont be able to get an MPEG2 (which is considered an intermediate file format) with dolby digital. But your confirming that i will be able to create an actual playable dvd with dolby 2.0 on it. Also can i have one chapter alone in dolby 5.1 and the others in dolby 2.0 etc. Is it fully flexible ?

June 25, 2006 at 6:24 pm in reply to: No Dolby 2 Channel sound in Vegas 6 + DVD Platinum ??OK. So ur sure Jedi that i can make dolby 2 channel right. Beacuse i wud be buying the package for just that and tommorow if it doesnt work it would be a waste. Those cranks at sony sent me an official email saying that dolby 2.0 is just not possible at all even in the production suite version. Only 5.1 is possible is what they say. But sometimes they are numbskulls who themselves are reading something from the site and telling us. So if uve actually done this and used it and been there before then ill confidently buy.

June 21, 2006 at 9:04 pm in reply to: No Dolby 2 Channel sound in Vegas 6 + DVD Platinum ??Thanks Jedi. Mine is not the full version. So i guess i wont have those shift internal settings. But this other thing i understood wht you mean about the media pool. The main link to the media is from the pool or bins. OK ill delete that then.
How do i stop those temp files acumulating. I used to work in soundforge where you could say dont show temp files and remove temp files when project closes or something like that. I find that whichever videos have been opened (even if they are not in use in the project have given birth to .sfk or .sfl files how do i stop these files or at least set them to autodelete when exiting the application ?
Thanks a ton for your patience and help Jedi.
