Hi how does one do this in vegas.
A person is standing while another person who is on his right moves in a quick blur behind the guy and around to the right. Much like the xmen 3 movie effect. Where the person moves too fast compared to the other person ?

Also i would like to know how one person is singing or playing his guitar in daylight inside an office environment and the entire office rushes past him. In a blur. People passing Moving around etc at hyper speed. And it slowly becomes dark and turns to night too. But hes moving at normal pace only.

How can i achieve these two effects within Vegas ?

    Thanks.

You might look at the “Motion Blur” envelope on the Video Bus track (look for it under the View menu). However, you need to carefully do this in separate steps so that ONLY what you want blurred gets blurred. You might want to look at chromakeying some of this.

    Hi Jedi,

When you say only certain areas get blurred does Vegas give that facility to apply any sort of effect to a predfined area only ? I know that moving mates are possible. But they work more as opacity masks. Is there a mask for effects. Like lets say your choosing lightrays effect. You might want to limit the light rays effect to an area of the video only (as if the light was coming out of a window in a house or something to that effect.

I was originally thinking you might want to apply the blur only to the parts that need blurring and then chroma key that over the rest of the footage. You might also want to look at the blurring effects at http://www.newbluefx.com which might help simplify this task. As for masking out areas, that certainly is possible. However, if you’re using one of the Movie Studio versions, you may quickly hit the max number of tracks limitation.
