Had one strange thing a few days ago.
Same as Wayne, but 10bit material and DecklinkPro. FC5 didn’t do anything when I tried to batch-capure a logged clip. Quitting FCP didn’t help, but a restart did.
So I did not take much care ’cause it worked from then on.
But maybe we should have an eye on it ?

  • Hello Ray,
don’t know what a Tri Level genarator is, as I’m using a normal black burst generator and it is working fine.
This one is reported to be okay and affordable:
    (Horita BSG50)

Anyway – maybe you can tell me what Tri Level means ?
    Plus wordclock ?

“Possible a clean install of FCP 5 instead of an upgrade may help”

It will sure help. I have about 2-8 % of all the problems reported on forums.
90 % is just poor installs or poor workflow.
Take the time ’cause it is worth it.

It’s working fine here. No problems (sluggish J-K-L of course) but that’s it.
Very stable with DecklinkPro, no crashes with FC5. Two crashes with Motion, sync problems with Decklink drivers and AfterEffects, but FC5 is almost perfect,

  • Just saw in your signature that you have AVID xPress installed on the same machine.
Get rid of it or use it on another partition with its own OS.
AVID is changing things deep inside the OS and causing conflicts with FCP and other applications.
    They don’t like each other.

  • Or export as self-contained movie and re-import into a new project.

    Good luck David !

  • Working on a brandnew Dual 2.7 as well.
Thought it would last a year or 15 months until it is time for a new mac anyway.
We all have to upgrade to FinalCut 6 next year and I’m sure there will be an upgrade path for existing users. So I don’t care that much and continue working.
You can learn the applications (’cause it will take some time getting familiar) and relax.

    Greetings

    Hello Bjorn,
deleting FinalCut preferences & POA cache (usually – not always) fixes this problem.
Don’t know why but FCP sometimes looses its mind.
FCPrescue will help you doing it. It’s free to download at
    https://fcprescue.andersholck.com/

    Good luck

    Hi Adolfo,
You’re not a member of the DVDSP team and I had a bad day.
    You’re right – but it’s a pity that it doesn’t work as I expected.
Guess we’ll survive it as usual.

    All the best
    Uwe
