Ed, I’m importing with the add project media -sequence option(the checkbox on the bottom), Vegas then selects the files according to sequence number – it’s something like name_001.tga, name_002.tga, etc.
I tried files ranging from 1024×768 to 640×480.
I had some success by selecting only a few dozen of the pics, but the subsequent import doesn’t cover the whole effect. It was still hit or miss even then. The fault message says “error, Metafile(something or other) unable to open”, and lists all the pics not opened. UJ

Tried batch conversion to png to see if that format would work, same problem.

Thanks Ed, I think I’ll give that a shot. UJ

  • I’ve had the set from Gary Kleiner for a couple of weeks now and find it to be a very good training program. I’ve learned some good tips in parts of Vegas I use regularly and considered myself very familiar with and now have a good understanding of features I shied away from(the trimmer, for one example). Much appreciated was the easy pacing, unlike other training programs I have used, which frankly, were more like feature tours that made my head spin. UJ

    James,
I have 120+ photos now, with about a dozen between 1200×800 to 2160×1728. I haven’t done a test render yet, but the preview playback set to best doesn’t give me any problems and is very smooth. Some of these are stacked tracks with motion. I’m using 2 gigs of ram with an AMD 4000 cpu which may or may not be making any difference. UJ

FWIW: I had a similar problem lately that started when I connected my camcorder to capture clips and when the Windows “what do you want to do with this program?” opened it had an option to capture with Vegas. I always use the external program from inside Vegas but this time selected the Windows option and when my project went to start it kept freezing where it had to look for a certain clip(even though I did no actual capturing at the time). After changing the capture selection back to external 3rd party or whatever it’s called, the lockups ended. UJ
