You can enter text into Excel in two columns. Copy the relevant cells and paste into Notepad. In Notepad, it should look like:

Select again and paste into Vegas’ Credit Roll. You should get the two column items with each pair on its own row.

Have you tried a different encoder? MPEG, QuickTime? If they work and your MP4 doesn’t, then it might be the MP4 encoder. If they all fail, then it is probably something in your .veg.

Try Render a Region using the MP4. If it fails, try again with MPEG or QT. If they all fail, then start muting tracks and/or disabling FX.

You need a chessboard image. Use Track Motion in 3D. 2 quick keyframes and then a 3rd for the slower motion … all in the Z axis.

Perhaps try: Video FX Cookie Cutter. Use Animation to move it from L to R. Adjust the Size so that it large enough to add a Feather, which should give a subtle “fade” to the text at the outer rim of the cutter.

You should use Track Motion (and not Pan/Crop) to position your events to get the PIP effect. You can then use Pan/Crop to move about the media while the clip stays fixed. Or, you could animate the clip positioning via Track Motion keyframes.

As far as navigating, you might try putting an ISO image on the USB drive and using a tool like Virtual Clone Drive to make it appear as an optical disc. Of course, this will only work on a computer, not a TV.

fwiw … I have put a 1920×1080 mp4 on a usb flash and it played fine on a Samsung HDTV.

You can copy the Track Motion keyframes albeit manually.

a. Open Track Motion on the source track.
b. Shrink the timeline so you can see all the keyframes. Select all (start at end, click drag back towards 0:0.0).
c. Copy.
d. Close Track Motion.
e. Open Track Motion on destination track.
f. Select first keyframe.
g. Paste.

If I understand correctly, you have Track B with multiple Events to which you’d like to apply a Mask. You could:

a. insert Track A above B.
b. make B a compositing child of A.
c. change Track A’s compositing mode to Multiply
d. put a white event (Sony Solid Color) on Track A of the needed length.
e. add the Mask to the white event

That should apply the Mask to the events in track B.

That’s just 4 separate Tracks in Vegas. Each Track keyframe is set such that they do not touch, hence the black spacing. You might want to use Excel to do some basic Track keyframe value calculations. You know the w,h is 1920 x 1080. 50% w is 960; 50% h is 540. Such a Track would be one quadrant (1/4 size). Additionally, calculate the x,y positioning values.

In the clip, the vertical (guy standing and clapping) looks ~40% width, which means two lower tracks (girl w/ headphones, guy on keys) are ~30% width each.

Use P/C keyframes within each Event clip to key-in exactly what portion of the source material you want in each Track.
