I have found that you can copy and paste credits from word or other text editors directly into a credit roll in Vegas. This is very helpful, but I only know how to do it with single line items and as one formatting type at a time (title text or Sub-item text).

Does anyone know if there is a way to type the text in a text editor so that Vegas can translate it into 2-column items as well as single line items when pasted into the credit roll editor?

I’d love to be able to give my clients a way to type out the credits exactly as they want them to look, send them to me, and be able to just copy and paste them into Vegas without having to tediously reformat them or enter them manually one at a time.

    Thanks.

    Not exactly but.
    1) you can import the full credit roll in one shot by right clicking a line and selecting import. I seems it must come from a text file. Then select the box to the left of each line to change to right , right header etc. Maybe someone knows a better way. But this is better than copy paste each line.

After you import a bunch of credits lines, you can CTRL-Click on similar items and change the type for all of them at the same time.

Personally, I use Videotagger. You create your credits in MS Excel then import them into Videotagger, then export the credit roll as an AVI file which you add to a video track in Vegas.

Theres an example in this discussion

You can enter text into Excel in two columns. Copy the relevant cells and paste into Notepad. In Notepad, it should look like:
    a[–tab–]b
    c[–tab–]d
    e[–tab–]f
Select again and paste into Vegas’ Credit Roll. You should get the two column items with each pair on its own row.

Vegas 12 credit roll can import text from a file.
The help file does not appear to have been updated to explain the usage.

An easy way to figure this out yourself and get “help” is to open the credit roll and save the default text to a file. Then open the file to see what was saved.

You will notice the text file has comments describing the format. Voila.
