to solve this issue you need to double click the SCALE tool… this should bring up a dialog box for the scale tool… at the bottom of that box there is a check mark for scale stroke and effects.. with this on it will scale the brush stroke when you scale your object.

the comp is a square pixel 1920×1080 29.97. the circle is a Shape layer with a white fill… which might explain the white ramp…oh… And the glow is based on the alpha channel… radius is 138 and intensity is 9.6.

i did figure out how to remove the stretching… if the threshold on the Glow is set to zero you get an oval… but if it is set to 100 then it turns into a circle… i just need some one to explain why this happens…

April 10, 2012 at 4:57 pm in reply to: Preferences not responding. Incredibly frustrating

    Ryan,
some times a system can have multiple pref files for a single application. Like if you upgrade from cs1 to cs3. Maya does that a lot when you upgrade it. i can’t remember if adobes stuff does or not. sorry you had to re-install… that is really annoying. best of luck

  • not sure if this will solve your problem completely… but you could reset your illustrator preference file. Some times Preference files get corrupt. i just set my keyboard increments to 0.0139 and check it against a box that was 0.0139×0.0139 and it lined up when i moved it.. i really think trashing your prefs should help.. also make sure smart guides and all snapping is off… which i understand you have checked… but if you trash your prefs and restart illustrator snapping will be back on by default.

    link below for trashing prefs..

Good luck… please let me know if this works for you.

what do you mean by half of the audio? does the audio cut out at a set time. or are you only getting a left audio track? How many audio tracks do you have in your timeline.

  • it’s kind of unclear what you are attempting to achieve. but you can
build a file in illustrator… and make a “Layer” for each frame..

this is a tutorial on how to do this… if this solved your problem, please repost as a solution.

February 28, 2012 at 7:36 pm in reply to: Rounding Corners

One other option is to run, round any corners script… i found this great free set at

    https://park12.wakwak.com/~shp/lc/et/en_aics_script.html#roundany

There is a bunch of really smart scripts here that can solve many everyday problems. just select the path point you want to round, run the script and punch in a value for the radius. again you are going to need to run a couple tests to get the right shape. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to draw a reference circle so you know how you want the radius of the corners to look.

other way to fix this issue is with Xtreme Path… but it costs money. But it also does a bunch of really cool things.

    david,
i did some minor testing on your problem. with out seeing the Ai file I can’t confirm my solution but here are some options. In illustrator you could group all of your elements into a layer. Then go and try the effect.
Effect / Warp… i would try fisheye and set it to a positive value. You might need to re-mask this again so the end product is square or a rectangle. You could do this in AE with another comp. or in illustrator… but i would save a copy of your original project in case this all goes sideways. remember to save your file, go into AE and reload the AI layers so you can see how the effect is impacting your sphere filter. again I’m not totally sure this will work but with enough time and testing it should get you close to what you asked for.
