Sounds like USB latency, but it shouldn’t be one whole second to begin with. You can reduce that by adjusting the buffers in PTLE and also by making sure you’re in Low Latency mode. It’ll still be somewhat delayed because it’s USB. Most people adjust the MIX knob on the front of the mBox to source to reduce the delay. Make sure you play with that as well.
All that stuff is in the manual, btw, and you can also get good info from the Digidesign DUC forum.

One directional antenna is not as good as two. You can, of course, move the receivers closer to the transmitters and cable back to your mixer if reception gets weak.

Peak levels vary depending on the system. Discovery has some very specific specs and if you are too loud or too soft, they’ll kick the show back to you. The actual numbers escape me at the moment, but they are like nothing higher than -12 and nothing lower than -18. That’s pretty narrow and requires compression and limiting on the stereo bus along with crafty automation.
If I’m doing spots for AM, FM or TV broadcast, I try to peak below 0 dB.

Well, those specific spaces may not be the ones auctioned off. For example, if NTSC channel 11 has a DTV on Ch 59, in Feb. they may shut down Ch 59 and begin transmitting digitally on Ch 11. 59 will be auctioned.
At the risk of sounding like a scoflaw, after auctioning, it’ll still take some time for the auction winners to implement. Even after they do, there’s no telling what that might do to the operation of wireless mics. We might be able to fire up on those channels if the transmitters and receivers are close enough.
There has been a law on the books for years that makes it illegal to fire up any device on the same spectrum as a TV station within 50 miles of that station. The only way to enforce that is from complaints by the licensee. Do they know what’s going on 50 miles from their tower? Probably not.
I caution people not to get too worked up. The wireless mfgrs didn’t start putting out frequency agile gear until we needed it. There may be a rough transition period, but I’m sure they’ll figure it out.

The human voice covers a range of 80 Hz to a peak in the 1-3 kHz region and falls off pretty rapidly afterwards. There’s not a lot of energy above 10 kHz. Most of the energy is 125 Hz to about 6 kHz.

I think that’s more a FCP question, but you should be able to export the audio fro the FCP File Menu, right?
I think as part of that process it asks you if you want the video files as well.
