I’m using a clean install of Tiger and the newest driver. Xserve RAID for Storage. The F12 hint is a good one. Wish it were a lot faster.

By “It”, I mean the Media Manager.

Let’s hope they fix it in a point upgrade, because this one is worse that FCP 4’s.

  • Apple’s non-support of PhotoJPEG is endlessly frustrating. PhotoJPEG in HD would allow 1920 X 1080P at about 4 MB/s.

I don’t know why they don’t play ball.

    1) The biggest issue with sharing projects is the relinking to media. It helps if the computer name or the media drive are named the same on both computers. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself relinking a lot. Render files will need to be recreated.

    2) Always Zip or Stuff project files when you send them via internet. It protects them.

    3) Multiclips sometimes do not survive well in shared projects. So, if you have many multiclips, you may be in for some headaches.

If you leave “Include Master Clips”, MM will not delete the unused media. I’ve done a set of MM tests to see what works and what doesn’t. Also watch out for clips that are running backwards.

Try turning off the Include Master clips. You’ll see the media get deleted. Watch out though for any reversed clips, the delete function doesn’t play nice with them.

Did a pretty decent NTSC to PAL conversion. You need to futz with the frame conversion settings to get the quality (don’t use the preset). Graeme is correct, it is pretty slow. Definitely helps if you can cluster render it.

    Full install. Tiger. No problems.

I’ve edited HDV, multicam, 10-bit uncompressed HD and SD, DV, DV50.

Working with Kona 2 and Xserve RAID.
