My suggestion is to apply all other mask/effects before the Time Warp. Precomp and then apply the TW.

For total control I would use a 3d plugin like Element 3d – it comes with a earth model and there’s a free project on the videocopilot website that you could use.

That being said, I used CC Sphere to create something similar to what you describe. I had to create several projects – one for each part of the move- and edit them together to get the continuous fly in and out of several locations.

Another way would be to use Roughen Edges on a shape

There are a few ways to achieve this I am sure. Here’s the first one I thought of:
Using the Mesh Warp could be one- create a few keyframes distorting the initial shape (artwork created in PSD or AI) and then replicate that to create a cycle.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

Like Walter I am in need for more info on the subject- what frame size, fps, codec. Can you pause on a “flash” – do a screen grab and post?

Sweet! That’s the stuff that keeps Adobe on the edge. Any other amazing features you’re planning to announce- some that may bring and extra volume to AE?

The trick I think is not animating the bright phase of the flash, but the cooling down of the bulb after- that takes a few frames more.

I would suggest using a blue background but surrounding the car with white screens (outside the frame obviously, left and right of camera and on top, 45 degrees maybe, making sure the lights are not behind) that will provide some nice reflections on the side of the car and on top.
