    Perhaps there is a training video here on creative cow…I just don’t know what the effect is called. Specifically, its the effect of the colors “wobbling”…like what you see in the recliner at the very beginning.

    Thanks so much for any direction you can provide.

    There are a few ways to achieve this I am sure. Here’s the first one I thought of:
    Using the Mesh Warp could be one- create a few keyframes distorting the initial shape (artwork created in PSD or AI) and then replicate that to create a cycle.

    Another way would be to use Roughen Edges on a shape

    Thanks Ted. These are all great ideas that I hadn’t thought of before.

    1. make desired shape with the pen tool.
    2. add “Wiggle Paths”
    3. Change to suit your needs.
    size=60, detail=1, points=smooth, w/sec=1.5 looked close to me

    Check out my reel, and see if this is similar to what you want to do. (Sorry, it’s an old reel – flash required). In it, look for the segment for “World’s Ugliest Dog”. https://www.antifreezedesign.com

    In it, I created hand-drawings and scanned them in. (but it could be any art or comp)
    Then, I gave the drawings a “wiggle” by putting the Turbulent Displace effect on them. But to keep them feeling a bit more “jittery”, I also added the Time-Posterize Time effect, set to around 8 fps. (You may need to pre-comp the Turb.Displaced artwork comp, then apply Posterize Time to the pre-Comp)

    It’s a super-efficient way to get that “hand-drawn animation” look, without having to create multiple pieces of art.
