Yep- this opens up AE to even more 3d work. What I like is the options you get with AE- quick and dirty with ShapeShifter AE, FreeForm Pro, Element 3d or Zaxwerks, or more complex work using C4D. All I can say is great job Adobe!

You should have the project file- it’s in m previous post- obviously there’s need for tweaking and I exaggerated some aspects for easier visibility, but the main idea is there- hope you can make use of it.

It’s rough and it needs tweaking but that’s the main idea- you would have to create different shadows on the back wall to match each flash angle.

Neat video is a cool plugin, but sometimes I find the result to be too smooth making the image look “photo-shopped”. I used AE’s own Reduce Grain plugin with good results. I guess the trick is not to eliminate the noise completely but to reduce the intensity. It may help using one layer with any noise reduction plugin set for the smoothest output you can get and then a second with the saturation reduced and Levels applied to it to crush whites and blacks a bit. Then you can play with the opacity of the layer on top (reduced noise one).

I suggest building the arm you want animated using Newton in a separate comp, then bring that comp in your main comp and parent that to the rest of your robot.

I would suggest checking out Newton2 – it’s quite easy to create complex animations with just a few clicks once you have your logo split into shapes.
