  • Is the footage interlaced? It almost looks like artifacts you would get in DV footage.

  • What is the original format of the footage and is the same format going in the Avid?

  • You can precomp the animated type layer and use Time Remap to adjust the animation and create pauses in between lines or letters.

  • From what I read on the source website they come in PNG sequences with alpha- that means that you have control over the ribbons only. It’s just applying a Hue/Saturation and tweaking the color… I may not understand your issue but this seems pretty straight forward.

  • The only way I can think of is if you would have a camera in your master 16:9 comp, then you create a solid frame size, make it 3d and make sure it fills the frame as you tweak the position to set it in front of the camera and then link it to the camera. This way when the camera moves over your large comp to create the pan, the solid moves with it as well. Turn the opacity down to 10-15% and you have your window.

  • By “these” I presume you are referring to visual elements which would be best described if you posted a still – otherwise we have no idea what “they” are…

  • It is always easier if you provide some images- a simple storyboard sketch would do.
Also, more information about your project helps. Are you trying to do this over footage (existing video)? If so, is it already shot? Can you provide a clip?
If there is a camera move you need to track and solve the camera, create a Null using track points on the wall, position your sticker/ad there and animate in 3d the sticker moving back over the camera. Use Motion Blur and tweak speed to get desired effect.

  • If you have a camera, are you sure you’re looking at the Active Camera View and not at a Custom view?

  • I would add one more – make sure that the footage you use is at least 4:2:2 if not 4:4:4. You need all the color information you can get to be able to achieve good results.
If you have a DSLR or a HD camera that records to a 4:2:0 format, then use a HDMI output (or SDI if available) to record to an external device- such as a Atomos Ninja/Samurai in a 4:2:2 10bit format (ProRes or DnXHD)

Beside the advice you’ve been already given here’s what I would say:
Use this job as a learning opportunity. Hire a good compositor to work along with you on this job. You’ll make less money but you’ll gain a lot of experience and you’ll be more likely to be on time.
