The curvy lines I saw were before the 35-40 sec mark- as a matter of fact the video I saw from your link was about 30 sec long all together. That effect on yellow background is an animated 2d layer with FreeForm displacement mapping (comes with CS5, separate plugin for earlier versions)tilted in 3d space using the controls from the plugin.

March 12, 2011 at 8:10 pm in reply to: Issue that research on many sites didn’t resolve. Here’s my answer from your other post in case you stopped checking that:
I do not use C4D, but rendering should be similar with other 3D apps. In the apps I use you need to select the object/objects you want to have an alpha channel and specify that you want that channel to be rendered for those objects. In some apps the alpha is rendered out as a separate sequence of black and white images that needs to be taken in AE and set as alpha for the RGB render.
I have worked before with RPF files that contain Zdepth data and with that you can composite in AE pretty complicated scenes. Here’s a link that explains that much better than I could:

Quick fix: open the sequence in AE (drag and drop the sequence in the Project window over the comp icon). Save project. Open AE project in Adobe Media Encoder, select comp and compress.
There may be another way but this worked for me.Tudor “Ted” Jelescu

At my wits end, and have tried almost everything.Be a bit more specific in your questions: are you trying to export a sequence with Alpha from AE or C4D? From your post it’s not clear. If you are trying to do that from AE just make sure that you do not have a background layer (like a black solid). You can always preview your Alpha channel by selecting to preview that in your comp window (where the three RGB discs are at the bottom- click on that and select Alpha). If you have an alpha channel you will see a black and white image, if not then just white.

March 11, 2011 at 9:18 pm in reply to: AE Render Engine – damaged/missing footage errorAs Dave LaRonde extensively explains in his Stock Answers (search the forum for them) AE does not do well with compressed footage. Mpeg is a final playback codec, where all information is squeezed/compressed and organized to look good for playback only and not for additional work. If you can’t get your hands on the original footage, then at least transcode the mpeg to a lossless format and then work with it in AE.

March 11, 2011 at 9:12 pm in reply to: Magic (asorb text from book ) Moving text? Both of Joey’s suggestions may apply- I would recommend the second. Using FreeForm to distort an animated text layer in 3d space would be my choice.

March 10, 2011 at 8:05 pm in reply to: revolving objects + revolving footage = headspinningNot knowing specifics it’s hard to say that it will work, but the New Zaxwerks Invigorator allows for 3D in AE. You can link 3D objects to AE 3D layers and animate those layers (and thus the objects). This may be an option for your project.
