Have you installed the latest upgrade for CS4- the one that came after CS5 was launched?
    Do not use multiprocessing.
Render sequence of files- this way you can pick up from where it crashed.

Most likely you encounter the jitter with fine detail because some of the artwork detail is close to a pixel or under. It’s not the software but the resolution you’re working at. The fix is usually applying a fast blur of anywhere from .3 to .7.

Programs are tools- what you can do with the tools depends on your training, knowledge and talent and in some extent on the programs limitations, although now a days lines do get blurred. The kind of tools you use depends also on the market you want to enter. So determine your further assignment interests, research the market to see what software is required, and then proceed with choosing the tools.

Just as a pointer for further reference:
Particular should be used on a 2d layer on top of all your 3d layers. You can use depth maps and Obscuration controls to determine positioning in z space. Also you can adjust the visibility range of the particles from within the plugin.
For the particles to show up on the first frame you need to set a pre- roll.

  • I believe you will find Mocha to be very easy to work with in any workflow – just track the clip you need, export data and paste to your layer in AE.

  • If you track with Mocha then you can export only Corner Pin data.

  • So you could use Dave’s advice from the other post – mask one layer, copy mask and paste on all other layers that need masking. No need to precomp…

I’m with Dave – a small artifact, a lost pixel from a line in your artwork can create that. Mask around it and that should solve the issue.

  • Why do you need to pre-compose your vector art? If it’s just to make a tighter comp with less layers, then there’s no need to pre-compose. Just link all vector art to a null, hit the shy layer switch and you’ll end up with one layer and no problem.
