    Hi

I also work in commercials….when we do a shoot on 35mm or Panasonic Varicam, HD etc. we always transfer the rushes onto SD with MATCHING TC. We load the SD rushes into the offline suite and then conform the HD rushes with MATCHING TC into online machine, and log our rushes identically (Rubber Banded) together into the same database…..IT WORKS FOR US.

I have done this before and have only had problems with BACK SPACE EDITING (Rolling each cut 3 frames or so backwards) apart from that it’s never been a problem

After been given this problem 4 yrs ago, i decided to go for the Avid Media Dock on a SCSI connection. (Basically a removeable drive system. You need twice as many drives as the project requires…..Allways make sure you call every BIN a different name when working on a project at the same time, as avid will not recognise same BIN names or will but won’t open them together.

  • Quite simply DATABASE SOFTWARE, wether it be Access on PC or FileMaker Pro on MAC, we register every tape as a R0000 number on entering the building. This number is kept all the time, when somebody has time i.e. runner…he LOGS the tape into sections…i.e. windfarm…..car ride….bus ride……etc. When the program is finished, it becomes a MASTER thus earning a M0000 number and a seperate database is the set up for MASTERS.

then just do a search for material required.

There is an answer, to edit the deck preferences to check every frame for TC. Will get back when i get to work when i can read the settings u need to look at every frame of TC.

TC is usually carried through your REMOTE CABLE. So as long as you have your TC button highlighted in the capture tool, it shouldn’t be a problem….otherwise you might as well be capturing wild…..Don’t forget OMF exports or AIF (depending on whay output yu need).

Otherwise go to the audio project setings and check what your input settings are set to….
