[Sohrab Sandhu] “So why can’t you wait to give your opinion untill you have used the software? Lol.”
You didn’t. You were all over FCP X after the super meet. Don’t expect from others what you are unable to do yourself.

Here’s an interesting scenario: if, in the next few months, Biscardi, Harrington and a number of other production houses and editors (the ones that aren’t blowing smoke) spend the time, effort and money to switch to another NLE, what would be their response if Apple then initiated all the changes you want? Would there be a second backlash? One in which Apple is accused of costing them undue time and capital because Apple didn’t EOL FCS3?
This may be the peek of the anti-FCP X backlash and there are only 144 signatures on that petition. That’s out of a million users! When the missing pieces of FCP X are gradually or quickly filled in, what will be the state of this backlash movement ? AJA, Magic Bullet, Saphire, and Noise Industries (and maybe others) have already jumped on board, so the prediction that there would be no support from plugin and hardware manufacturers (at least not right away) is clearly eroding.
Tick, tick, tick…
So, for good or for bad, with every day, there is more support for FCP X and a new nail in the coffin of FCS3. You can hang around this forum hijacking all the positive posts and putting down the people who write them, you can spend all your time on this forum hawking other NLEs, you can blow smoke and bitch all you want expecting Apple to roll back time, or you can move from this bargaining stage onto depression and acceptance (or maybe straight to acceptance), embrace FCP X, or find your next true love in another NLE and finally, thankfully, move on. -
Wow. Mr. Burke, you certainly have spent a lot of time trashing FCP X as if you have an experts’ perspective and now you come back with a question that, if you had stopped bitchin’ for a moment, you may have noticed was answered a few days ago? The answer is yes, you can turn it off. But probably not the way you think. I could be a prick and tell you to search for it, but here’s the explanation from that no good, Apple loving, FCP X fanboy Chris Kenny:
“Flip from ‘Select’ mode to ‘Position’ mode, and clips will go exactly where you drag them, overwriting other clips or leaving gaps as necessary. To delete a clip and leave a gap, use ‘Replace With Gap’ instead of just deleting normally. (‘Replace With Gap’ is assigned to the forward delete key.)
A couple of more useful semi-related features: if you drop a clip on another clip in the timeline, a contextual menu will give you replacement options. Also, you can now insert specific (named) placeholder clips (with Edit -> Insert Placeholder), so things you intend to fill in later don’t just have to be gaps named with markers anymore.”
The menu for this can be found when you click on the blue curser/arrow button above the timeline.
Glad to see you’re helping out though! -
Sorry your having a hard time making rate but give me a break! You’re not making $12 an hour because of the tools you’re using. Your rate is based on your experience, how you present yourself and whether you’re willing to stand your ground in order to establish a higher rate. Are you going to be one of the people on this forum that keeps coming back to blame Apple for your lack of work?

Thanks Chris. You’ve been working hard today getting the right information to the people who are interested in resolving issues and learning more about how FCP X actually works.

Thanks. There hasn’t been enough FUD on this forum today.

Thanks for that rational and balanced review. Most of the people on this forum have gone insane so your input is much appreciated.

Don’t know the exact processor specs but the machine is an Intel iMac with 512mb of memory, which will be increased soon.
