Reconnect by using the import function. I right click on the event, choose Import and select the media.

[Craig Seeman] “Select edit point. Use Command T instead of right click.”

Yes, I’m well aware of that. My point is that right clicking on an edit point should reveal options appropriate for the edit point, not the entire clip. Clicking on the clip itself results in the same options. There’s no longer a shortcut menu for the edit point.

That’s true when using the keyboard shortcut but not when right clicking. Right clicking on the edit point to access the cross dissolve via the shortcut menu selects the entire clip.
    Thanks for the conform rundown.

  • Thanks Robbert!

  • [John Pale] “Since FCP X does not have the ability, as far as I can tell, to export stills from the timeline,”

If you’re referring to making a freeze freme from the timeline that can be done with “Save Current Frame” from the Share menu. You can choose from a short menu what type of file and where you’d like save it. Once saved you have to import it into FCP X (an extra inelegant step). I did just that and saved it as a psd file and then opened it in photoshop, made a change and it updated in FCP X no problem.
Also, I just imported a still image file into FCP X and then opened it in photoshop and made a change. I went back into FCP X and the file was still online with the change I made updated. I take it you’re talking more about video clips that are opened in AE and other programs. So far I can work with still images in and out of photoshop the same as I did in FCP7.

Fair enough. I’ve taken my shots and I’ll take a hit for that. But head on over to the Premiere or Avid forums and see how many posts you can find along the lines of ” Premiere/Avid sucks and anyone who defends it is an Adobe/Avid apologist!” What do you think the reaction would be over there to such a post?

You’re really just a troll now. You’ve run out of things to say about FCP X so you come here just to piss on other people’s posts and start a flame war. Take your posts, substitute FCP X for Premier Pro and and start posting them into that forum. I like to see their responses. I doubt it would be tolerated. You’re comfortable posting here because it’s been a dumping ground for your kind of incendiary rhetoric since it’s inception. If you haven’t noticed, more and more people are coming here to post technical questions, exchange information and discuss in substantive ways editing with FCP X. You know, the type of threads you regularly see in other forums.

[Stevo Chang] “we ALL should take credit for that!”

I think I’ll give credit where credit is due – with the designers and programers.

I take it you’re assuming credit for the release of the FAQ and not Apple working on XML support? Because I think they’ve been working on it for a while. It was pointed out days ago by Philip Hodgetts who was told by Apple programmers that it was definitely coming. Also, evidence of XML code in FCP X was discovered by Chris Kenny a few days after it’s release.
