The internal “Video” disc on my the Mac. I am testing shorter firewire cables now, looks like it might help. What lengths do you use on the firewire cables (for capture)?

It is definately possible, but depends on the configuration of the computer where you want to play the file. In general, I’d say that you’re much safer with for example mpeg-1 or various .wmv files.

Donald, that I didn’t understand…are you using the same deck as me…?
    Also, you say:
“We have to set the editor for dv25 output, edit to tape,
change the settings back to DV50 and then output the program.”

    What do you mean excactly?

I also have a DSR-1500P player/recorder and I am aware of the troubles with outputting excact timecode from FCP through firewire. That only requires a simple workaround though.

The programmer says he’s experienced in this field, and that he gets jagged edges and blurry footage (source footage is green screen done in a studio, finished key looks fine on my monitor) due to the difference in the pixel aspect ratio.
I’ve exported Quicktime Animation codec with millions of colors+ for him to use.
    Is he right or wrong?

I see. I have this project that’s going to be used for a flash presentation. The programmer wants video files with square pixels. So how do I convert it?

Another option is to buy a cheap DVD recorder with firewire in, works pretty good for quick proof copies.
