You can’t unfortunately. There’s some technical issues that prevent AJA for supporting this much requested capability (unless something has changed since I spoke with them last).

I don’t know of a plug-in like Sound Keys for Motion, but you could connect a simple Midi device and manually animate almost anything in you project from the midi device (tapping the keyboard when the bass drum hits to animate the jumping of an object in your project for example). Try it, its really very cool.

MacDrive from Mediafour is the best solution I’ve found (and its easy). Just install it on the PCs and format your drives for the Mac.

Are you sure you are not selecting the B-Spine tool? It’s a wonderful tool for drawing a path quickly, but it does not give you bezier handles (not necessarily a bad thing). If you click and hold on the path tool you’ll see that there are two to choose from. One for Bezier and one for B-spline. A pop-up message will display in a couple seconds if you hover over the tool, letting you know which one is which.

The 24″ iMac’s are very nice and can do a pretty good job at running many pro applications. For DV editing you should be fine as long as you are using external drives and bump the RAM up to at least 2gb. If you want to run Motion, the iMac will never do as well as the new towers. However, i would go with 3gb of memory in it and bump up the graphics card to the nvidia 7600 (you should do both of those anyway).
The negatives with the iMac’s. compared to the new intel Mac towers, is that they are not very expandable: no extra internal drives, no hi-end graphics cards like the awesome ATI X1900 (really helps with Motion), limited to only 3gb of RAM (16gb in the towers), and no PCIe slots (meaning no capture cards, FW cards, SATA cards, Fibre cards, etc). The iMac also has less ports to connect all your devices to. There’s only one FW 400 and one FW 800 port on the new iMac’s so you’ll need FW 800 external drives if you are planning on connecting a camera at the same time.
There’s probably many more pro’s and cons, but those were the first things that came to mind.

Hi Bob,
Not really the solution you were looking for, but you could get the window how you want it, then double click in the gray area at the top to place the window in your dock. When you need it, it would be there just as quick as clicking on your hard drive to open a new window, but would retain you customized column widths like you wanted (did that make sense?).
Also, just a little trick/feature that not too many people know. If you double click on the two little vertical bars that you use to resize the columns, they resize automatically to fit the width of whatever is in that column.

Remove all fonts you added and things should go back to normal. Basically, remove all fonts from your Hard Drive > Library > Fonts folder and your Home Folder > Library > Fonts folder. Restart and see if everything is back to normal. If so (and it should be), then you were have a font conflict. You probably had a third party font that was using the same identifier as one of the OS X installed fonts. You can slowly replace the removed fonts until the problem reoccurs, then narrow it done to which font or fonts are causing the problem (probably one from some small or unknown company).

The great thing about AJA’s Io is that it continues to work on every new Pro Mac that Apple releases. How many capture cards would you have gone through in the last few years with PCI, PCI-X, PCIe and of course the Intel Mac’s if you had gone that route? The Io works with all of them. So the AJA Io gets a big thumbs up for that from me!

Yep, sounds like a good plan. I’d take SATA RAID over the FW 800 myself even without the additional compatibly bonus.
