Not sure if you get all of the codecs with just purchasing Motion but it’s a definite possibility! You have to download the codecs after purchasing FCP X anyway, so maybe it’s the same with Motion? You’d have to try, I guess.

Yes…if you buy and install FCP X, all the codecs are installed and available to other video apps. I have a MBP that I got just to install and learn FCP X, Avid, and Adobe Production Premium (for Premiere) and intentionally left off the legacy FCP suite. I wanted to keep my money making edit suite sperate, and intact, while working with new software / workflows.

Everything works great! And full access to all flavors of Prores. BTW…I think Prores will be around for quite some time as it has become a widely used codec due to it’s awesome quality and camera makers as well as software encoders are using it moe and more.

That’s cool…I’ll check it out. Wondering, can you just install cinema tools from my FCP suite, by itself, on my new machine anduse it as I always have?

Sorry, that should be, “You would put it over your footage (v2 track)”. Typing on the iPad 😉

That’s done with film damage / light leak footage that’s composited over the original footage. Lots of places to buy and some out there for free.

You would out it over your footage (v2 track), then right click it and use the composite mode drop down to choose how you want it. I use “add”.

Hi Simon! Quick question…I dig this effect but for some reason, I can’t change the background color! Everytime I try, it resets it to white again. It’s the same whether I click on the color and try that way, or if I click on the dropdown that brings up the color pallette. Have you had this problem? Think it could be fixed?

Thanks for all you’re doing here!

Try MPEG Streamclip. It’s free and does great batch conversions.

Crumplepop has a plug-in called Shrink Ray that does a great job of adding tilt shift to your video.
