    Jim,

Consider using AJA’s D10AD component to SDI converter along with a flying cow audio converter.

    Scott,

Get yourself Soundtrack pro (when it is released) this is the application you want to use for audio editing.

Soundtrack pro was recently shown at the LAFCPUG meeting the first week in May and it was quite impressive.

The format you are using will always result in the following.

    GIGO (garbage in, garbage out).

The client should have shot in HD if they really cared about image quality to start with.

    James,

You can easily create a letterboxed image via FCP by dropping your 16×9 anamorphic sequence into a 4:3 sequence and via the motion tab- distort- aspect ratio input -33.33 which will create a letterbox output.

But the best solution is to invest in a monitor which already has a 16×9/4:3 function. Consider buying a used monitor if you can’t afford a new monitor.

    Cmon,

Did you really expect Apple to allow unlawful use of copyrighted music?

Ripping off music without permission is a crime with severe penalties.

    Marco,

Welcome back. Where have you been? I thought you had found a after effects girlfriend and she took you away from the cow.

May 3, 2005 at 4:56 pm in reply to: OT – Credit Card Phone Scam, please read

    Walter,

    Thanks for the info.

I generally turn the scam around by requesting the social security number, home address, cell phone number and first born child’s name of the person calling.

I instruct the caller I cannot discuss any personal information until the caller reveals all their details first.

Sort of like I show you mine if you show yours first.

  • Joe,

I have the same set up as you except I have a dual 1 ghz G4 with a kona card.
A year ago I tried the same test you completed with my kona and an external composite to firewire converter.

All went fine until I tried to get the G4 to accept the firewire signal at which point the test failed. I will have to try out your suggestion to use the iglasses application.

Can you explain in more detail how you are using the iglasses application and what happens if you do not launch the application?

    Thanks,

    Bob,

I have declared the winner’s of my $10 1200A mystery lottery this week.

It is a tie between Walter and yourself. So since I can not exceed my ten dollar budget I will instead offer both of you discount lunch coupons at Sizzler’s.

The two of you can have a nice sit down lunch and discuss the merits and issues of why the deck can’t do assemble edits.

I am sorry but airfare, hotel and car rental are not included in this deal.
