All of Boris Calligraphy has been considerably revised and updated for v5, one of the few rarely mentioned, but substantial improvements in the application. It now includes a a Type On function, a useful, animateable Vector Shape tool and a fun Text Scrambler that messes with the text, including jittering as well as other motion.

Being made on OS9 makes on difference. I little more detail about exactly what’s happening and when might help. What happens when you double click on the project icon? What happens when you control-clcik and choose open with? What does the icon look like? Is it a normal FCP project file icon?

The application simply does not work the way you would like it to work. New instances of media in a new project cannot be linked to each other. There is no data base for that.
Rather than copying or dragging from one project to another, if you duplicated the project and deleted the the material you didn’t need from it, reveal in finder would work correctly. Bit of a workaround, but if that functionality is necessary to you that’s the only way to do it that I know of.

This is not correct. There are two ways to make a nest. You can bring one sequence from the browser into another and it retains the name you gave it in the browser. You can also nest clips within a sequence, which is when FCP asks you to name the sequence. If you name it 1N that’s the name that appears on the nested sequence inside the master sequence. That’s also the name that appears on the new sequence that appears in the browser.

Then the Nested sequence is named “A” & the Un nested is “A1”I have no idea what this means, but unless you’re doing something truly bizarre this doesn’t happen. When you bring a sequence from the browser and place it in another sequence, the function called nesting, FCP does not ask you to name the nested sequence. The only time it asks you to name a sequence if when you nest clips within a sequence. If you already have a nested sequence inside a master sequence, and then select it and choose Sequence>Nest Items, it will ask you to name the nest, and the new nest will have the name you give it. But why you would want to do that I cannot for the life of me imagine?

I’ve never seen this happen. It may be a function of the number of tracks. You might try the usual trash preferences.

Did you turn on record keyframes? Little button in the upper right corner of the mixer.

720p24 is not a supported format in FCP.

On a 240G drive I should leave 48G free?

1. This does seem to be broken, but it may be machine dependent or some other weirdo factor as I’ve done this in 5.0.2 and not seen it happen.
2. There is some documentation about reduced quality when rotation is applied.
3. Yes, broken. Filters favorites also seem to be broken now as well.
The app looks like its going downhill.
