    Guys,

Can you check this? Apply a basic border on a still. The right edge of the still does not have a border. I’ve tried this on two different machine. (G5 dual 1.8, 3 gigs RAM, 10.4.2, FCP 5.0.2, QT 7.0.1 and iMac 2 ghz, 1 gig RAM, everything else is the same) Pain in the butt cuz now I have to take the still in Photoshop to make a border.

Also keyframing a slow rotation from about -6 to 2 value produces a wicked “swimming” jaggy edge. Don’t recall 4.5 doing this. Tried render in Best and Fastest motion quality – same result in both. Final result was add a feather edge under crop.

Good News is that FCP and Motion round tripping works great. Sigh….growing pains….and Copy and Paste attributes is still broken with regards to copying keyframes from Filters!

But I usually nest and then apply borders since the Borider filter does not respect any other effects. Bad programming. >> Also keyframing a slow rotation from about -6 to 2 value produces a wicked “swimming” jaggy edge. Don’t recall 4.5 doing this. FCP's rendering engine stinks. The claims from Apple were for vast improvements in the native DV rendering but I see absolutely no difference in how edges are handled. Cheap programming shortcuts since other solutions exist. >> Good News is that FCP and Motion round tripping works great. The filter keyframes thing seems to be a design decision since Apple deliberately broke it. Bad design, bad programming, bad customer support, lousy decision.

I’m fundamentally pissed off about FCP5 these days. Nothing got fixed and tons of junky-clunky stuff I don’t give a rat’s asset about got layered on top of an already overly complex and pseudo sophisticated application. I really miss my old Media 100 today.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    1. This does seem to be broken, but it may be machine dependent or some other weirdo factor as I’ve done this in 5.0.2 and not seen it happen.

    2. There is some documentation about reduced quality when rotation is applied.

    3. Yes, broken. Filters favorites also seem to be broken now as well.

The app looks like its going downhill.

    All the best,

    Tom
