The timecode breaks warning can have spurious causes. Your complete system set-up would be helpful, camera/deck, drives, computer, how everything’s connected, the settings on the tape, and the settings you’re using to capture. Did you update to 2.0.3 BTW?

LT defaults to rendering with transparency. If you want a white background make sure in project properties you have the white chosen and turned to 100% opacity. Also make sure you check render with background when you render the project or before you import the LiveType project into FCP.

That’s actually what happens in the timeline as well. The down arrow does not take you to the out point, it takes you to the beginning of the next shot, the next in point. Shift-O takes you to the out point.

Where are you trying to get to? Will the material be seen on a television set or on the web? If it’s going to web you’re limited by what you can put on the web as delivered video. Flash might be more suitable for what you want to do.

Are you getting dropped frame warnings?
The jaggedness sounds like you’re seeing interlacing during playback. You shouldn’t see this on your video monitor.

Where is it jerky? During capture? After capture playing back in the Viewer? On an external video monitor? If it’s during playback, is the log and capture window closed? Are the Viewer and Canvas set to Fit to Window?
