Hmmm…
I’m running 5 of these cameras in a sports remote truck shooting outdoors all the time. I’m not seeing any of these issues. Also using the ND4 filters to get the lens opened up a bit in daylight.Cameras are attached through OpticalConn fiber cables using CCU’s in the truck. All HD digital. No issues and I’m pretty picky about image quality. Weird…

I’m running 5 HPX-370’s on a remote truck with no focus/image issues at all. I have found that the camera will go soft if the iris is set to a very small opening. Diffraction off of the iris blades and the small MOS sensors? Use the ND filters, especially outdoors to keep the iris at f-8 or larger. Under what shooting conditions do you see the problem? What lenses do you use?

I’ve found in using the HPX-370, that when you close the lens down to a small f-stop, it will affect the sharpness of the image. I never shoot with a setting smaller than f-8 and find the sweet spot to be around f-4 to f-5.6. That’s why the image gets better when you dial in some extra ND. Don’t know if it’s a diffraction problem from the iris blades, the small sensor size or probably a combination of both. Keep the iris around f-4 to f-5.6 and the camera should give you a sharp image.

Before importing your stills, you can go into the User preferences and set a still duration time. When the jpegs are imported, they will come in at the length you have specified. Just set the length to include whatever amount of time you need for your handles.

Total as in the length of all the clips combined or total as in how much disk space is this taking up? The total disk space question can be founf using Media Manager.

On many of Sony’s pieces of equipment, a flashing light means either a missing signal or a non-synchronous signal. Since the switcher is passing the bars, I’d guess it might be the latter. Check your manual for the section on reference inputs or gen-locking to see if it’s mentioned. Are the bars and the switcher locked to a common reference?
