With the proliferation of longform, HD projects, the necessity for the “offline-online” workflow is increased. I agree, for the editor working on dv projects, the ability to digitize at full resolution works very well. When working at HD resolutions that requires 1GB of storage for each minute of footage digitized,
    the offline approach is required.

The irony I find in this conversation is relateed to my expereince with FCP 5. I am an Avid DS Editor from 8 to 5, but was very intrigued with the capabilities of FCP5. After purchasing a G5 and slamming the inches of manuals…I was suprised to find out how awkward and difficult it was to take a project from offline to online…a standard approach at the production facility I work at. It sounds like PP2 and FCP5 share a weakness in the media management/ upresing areas. Its a shame. They both have so much to offer (PP2 intergration with AE7) and FCP5(interface design and recent ability enhancements)….yet I wouldnt touch either with a ten foot pole due to basic limitations that professionals need on a daily basis

I have PI3 for windows and its is spectacular. The diversity and organic realism stunned me at first, and continues to do so. The plug in will be well worth the wait and will be released when Alan feels it is ready.

I have BCC 3.04 on the PC and it works just fine with AE7 as well. In fact, it seems “snappier” than on 6.5.

I guess the transition from 6 to 6.5 spoiled me, because I also feel underwhelmed by 7. Things like an intergrated tool for rotoscoping, and 3D enhancements would have left me with a full plate feeling. After viewing all the reviews , I think I will purchase a third party roto tool and a third party particle system and that will make me feel like my capabilites have been enhanced.
