I swear I have read somewhere that AE 7 will allow you to capture directly into it. I can’t remember where I read that and I am beginning to think I must have
been dreaming it all up. Can someone set me straight? -thanks

Did you search the AE COW for “capture”?

Actually, it does on Windows. You can capture in AE through Premiere Pro’s capture application – if you have Premiere Pro installed.

I’m pretty sure this is a Production Studio only feature, like Dynamic Link. Anyone out there who upgraded the single products want to test it for us?

Barned is correct…only through Premier Pro 2.

Does anyone know if the functionality of PPro 2 and AE 7 is the same as if you were using the two apps from within Production Studio? Some posts I’ve read seem to suggest that an additional enhanced interoperability is available when the whole Studio is installed. (i.e. I understand that Prod. Studio has Encore and Audition – but my only interest is the relationship between AE and PPro.) – Many thanks…

What the capture function does is launches Premiere Pro 2.0, same capture window then simply imports the footage captured into AE. obviously this can only be done on the PC

The integration of AE and PPro has been tightend considerably within the studio package.
Detail on the Adobe website here.
